Those who tell us what to do, and then those who inspire us by their actions

A word of encouragement during a failure is worth more than an hour of praise after success.” – Unknown

It was raining heavily this morning in Atlanta as the day began with getting the kids ready for school; then reading up on the latest news, checking emails and getting to work for the magazine.

I began to think of all the effort that goes into the work we consistently do as parents and leaders — whether it's taking care of family, preparing lesson plans, setting up conference calls and meetings, updating websites, putting out articles, making sales calls and appointments, etc.

Often, it is the individual involved who understands the discipline and sacrifice that go into ensuring that these things get done right and in a timely manner. You may be behind the scenes – that blurry face typing away behind the computer, or that professional voice customers talk to on the phone – and the work you do may often go unacknowledged, however, you are the base – the ones "holding things down" in other words. Be proud of what you do and your contribution to the smooth running of the organization.

Working day in and day out requires self-motivation and encouragement from others. Who is inspiring you? How do you find the motivation to keep going? Who do you speak to when needing some pep talk as we all sometimes do?

Those who encourage us play a vital role in our lives. They should never be taken for granted. They are there because they believe in us.

I have found and I am sure you too have, that there are basically 2 groups of people when it comes to our work life: 1) those who tell us what to do, and 2) those who do and inspire us through their actions. The second group are the leaders, the mentors and agents of change. They are the ones I would like to acknowledge today and remind you to take a moment just to say "thank you" to for all they do. Personally, I refer to these individuals as angels. They are forever deserving of our respect and support as well.

Cheers to your SUCCESS!
