Most Sunday evenings at 9:30PM EST, you find me flipping to Atlanta's Channel 57 to listen to Bishop James Morton's weekly messages. This past June, I found this message by the Bishop of the New Beginning Baptist Church in Decatur, GA to be particularly uplifting.
The reason being that we all as human beings possess the power within us to be successful, yet few of us ever really tap into that inherent power. The first step is to KNOW and BELIEVE that success is there for the taking and that we are absolutely deserving of its rewards. The backing of a firm belief in our inner prowess is important in stepping forward toward living a life of purpose.
The Bishop's preaching was anchored in Deuteronomy 11:24 … "Every place where you set your foot will be yours: Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the Mediterranean Sea."
Bishop James Morton went on to reiterate:
- Watch where you walk; if you don't want it to be yours, don't put your foot on it. From the wildernest to the deepest seas, we have the power to possess the lands we tread on.
- Do not be afraid to tread on new grounds, because if you do not pursue new territories, all you'll have is where you are now.
- "A whole lot of us are still sitting 'in the premises' instead of 'standing on His promises'," said the man of God.
- If you want new blessings and successful experiences, don't be afraid to seek new things for the Lord has blessed you with the power to possess that which your heart desires. All you have to do is step in and claim it.
Our thoughts, actions, words and everyday activities should hence be in-line with that which we desire. The above message is a reminder that whatever we engage in (consciously or unconsciously) becomes ours … those who engage in negative activity conquer territories that breed negative fruits; those who involve themselves in positive activities sow and conquer positive fruits infused with well-being; those who engage in nothing, conquer nothing.
Dream, ask, believe, step out in faith, persevere and conquer. We are therefore encouraged to claim our divine possessions of abundance. My prayer for you is that as you work hard, our Father in Heaven will crown your efforts with success.
