Listening today: ANGEL OF THE MORNING

You can say I am a romantic at heart, the truth is I am very much inspired by music of different genres. Depending on where I am in my business and even in my personal life, it is not uncommon for me to spend several hours listening to music. Music helps me think, strategize and helps my creative juices flow. It is calming. In music, I am able to retreat to a quiet place from whence I draw strength and inspiration. Listening to music could very much be one of the most powerful forces in my life.

ANGEL OF THE MORNING by Juice Newton, I first listened to many, many years ago and it has always been in my music collection. I love the melody, the lyrics speak of a powerful love story; one in which she holds herself accountable in her decision to spend time with the one she loves and is ready to face the consequences later. The lesson: sometimes in life, you just have to take risks, go with your heart and take the heat of your decisions = holding yourself accountable.

Lyrics (written by Chip Taylor):

There'll be no strings to bind your hands
not if my love can't bind your heart.
And there's no need to take a stand
for it was I who chose to start.
I see no need to take me home,
I'm old enough to face the dawn.

Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
then slowly turn away from me.

Maybe the sun's light will be dim
and it won't matter anyhow.
If morning's echo says we ve sinned,
well, it was what I wanted now.
And if we're the victims of the night,
I won't be blinded by light.

Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
then slowly turn away,
I won't beg you to stay with me
through the tears of the day,
of the years, baby baby baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
