Making Effective Goals

GoalsGoals in my opinion are simply directions you give yourself. Where are your heading? You know you can't get anywhere if you aren't going anywhere. Without goals, your life is vague … maybe you're just going through the motions of living. In order to pursue a worthy objective, you have to set goals which you will focus on accomplishing, i.e. you will do whatever it takes to reach those objectives. Sometimes or may I say this often involves overcoming obstacles and hurdles and requires discipline. In this discussion, I will share with you 10 tips on effective goal making.

These goals could involve your personal life and relationships, financial dealings, business, career, health and fitness, vacationing and having a good time, or any other areas of your life. Remember that if they are worthy goals, the chase will be worthwhile and extremely fulfilling.

Here are some guidelines:

1. Whatever your goals are or will be moving forward, write them down. Do not make goals and leave them in your head/mind. Magic happens when the pen meets the paper … it's like signing a contract with yourself. And so grab a pen and paper, and write down your goals.

2. Your goals should be yours. Create your definition of success in the area you are focusing on….

  1. Awesome! I particularly like point 1 – Written goals are as good as a contract. When you write goals down and review them daily, you feel more committed to achieve them. Besides, there’s nothing like striking off written goals after they have been accomplished. 🙂
