Habits are behaviors that ultimately determine the quality of our lives. These are the things we do consistently, often unconsciously everyday that set the tone of who we are, how we live and what we achieve. It is important to self-evaluate every once in a while in order to root out the bad habits, fine tune older ones and develop new ones. Life is a constantly evolving 'game', everyday decisions lead us to new experiences which require new and better habits. Learning how to develop good, productive habits is sure to dramatically improve your lifestyle.
Here are simple steps to follow:
1. Identify the habits that need to be changed.
What habits are not working for you, slowing you down? Which habits are stopping you from living the life you deserve (health wise, financially, career-wise, business wise, etc)? What are the short-term and long-term consequences of not changing them? What habits do you need to improve and develop in order to move to the next level?
It is critical to honestly take inventory of these behaviors, because as Dr Phil, host of the popular Dr Phil TV Show says, "you cannot change that which you do not acknowledge". Note that most of these behaviors are unconscious patterns which have been a part of us for several years. It helps to ask for honest feedback from well-meaning friends and business associates who sometimes are in a better position to see things you don't see.
