CONSISTENCY

By Nicoline AMBE

Have you heard the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away?” Well, that means “one apple a day, every single day.”Doing the same thing every single day will yield a specific result. This is called consistency. Consistency or the lack of consistency can be the difference between success and failure in your business. Winners understand consistency. No matter what kind of business you are in, consistency is a key principle that will help you succeed. Too many people have an "all or nothing" mentality. They hold very high expectations about what they want to accomplish in their businesses, but if they do not meet these very high standards, they decide that it is not worth doing at all. It is important to remember that it does not have to be done in one day.

We earn money in direct proportion to our self-esteem. The way to increase self-esteem fastest is by self-discipline. Self-discipline means consistency. It means having a goal and doing a  specific activity on a regular basis to get to that goal. You don’t do the activity today, wait one week and then do it again, and wait another month and do it again. This is being a consistent loser. Athletes know that they have to consistently groom themselves. They have to consistently train to compete effectively,or to be the best in their sport. When you discipline yourself to achieve a specific task, consistency becomes a habit. It becomes part of who you are and the results flow in.

Champions are driven by their dream, but created by consistent habits.  A consistent habit is a habitual pattern of activity. It is what we do day in and day out, every single day, without even stopping to think about what we’re doing.  Why don’t we stop to think about them? Because we have done them so consistently that they have become a routine, a habit. Habits are created from consistent actions – those moment by moment, consistent, repeated choices that determine our future.

One of the best ways to gain momentum in business is to practice consistency. In a very practical way, pick an activity in your business and do it consistently for 40 days. It could be calling one customer a day. It could be finding one prospect a day. Find one thing in your business that you think will help you achieve your goals or move you to the next level in your business, and then do that activity every single day. Keep it simple. Perform that basic task at the same time every day for at least 40 days. The key is to keep the task very simple and basic, and to do it consistently. The consistent performance of your chosen task at the chosen time over a period of days will help you in gaining momentum in your business.

I will end with the saying “there is never a traffic jam on the extra mile.” That is because most people are unable, or unwilling, to go the extra mile. They have become exhausted and given up on their dreams. Consistent grinders stay the extra mile and ultimately see success. Remember, if we want to stop living like most people, we must stop acting like most people.

Good luck on your million dollar business!
